recent shirt designs
couple recent images for t-shirt prints... the left is dontstackmud. i loved the look of these old tools as soon as i saw them....their history and weight gave me a sense of integrity and curiousity; i wanted to play with them, flex my muscles, and find out what they had been used for, what the garage or toolbox they had lain had looked like. i wanted to smell the steel and feel the jagged rust on my fingertips....they call to a time when objects were manufactured to last, and people built things with their hands...the red sunlike circle in the back evokes the sense of working in the heat...sweat, labor, blisters and the gratification that can come with them. i'm working on these really great textile designs right now using the image of an old hatchet, which i plan on getting printed on a charmeuse... very very cute dress!!!....i think that the image of a rusted hatchet will contrast nicely with a thin flowing silk....maybe scarves?? the right design is called aaronsplit...my friend aaron neece's photography in south carolina. am attracted to the contrast in the subject matter and the way it is digitized. the full sizes for both are about 20 by 30 inches, with most of them, printed upon request. i'm also going to be starting to make shirts finished/decorated by hand which i'm very excited about....also, looking forward to be showcasing the prints above, as well as the rest of my portfolio at the DIRTY PRETTY THINGS festival in greenpoint tom., which you can see the postcard for above:) the festival will be held at the brooklyn parlor, at 72 greenpoint ave. there's going be a bar, dj, lots of really cool vendors; art, designers, vintage, furniture, etc... come by!! put together by two awesome vintage dealers, tessi and june .... you can visit at www.tessiandjune.com. you can check out the postcard above for info.
